Salted Honey Caramel Sauce Ingredients
- Local Hive™ Honey’s Northwest Blend – You can use any varietal. I’m using the Northwest blend for this recipe and it’s amazing. Probably, one of my favorite honeys!
- Unsalted Butter – Adds richness and flavor.
- Heavy Cream – Also adds richness.
- Salt – You can’t have salted honey caramel without salt! You can add as little or as much as you’d like.
- Vanilla Paste or Extract – This is optional, but a bit of vanilla adds a bit more flavor.
Salted Honey Caramel Sauce Instructions
Step 1 – Add honey and butter to a saucepan and over medium heat, bring to a rapid boil.
Step 2 – Add heavy cream and cook for about 8 minutes on medium heat, stirring occasionally.
Step 3 – Once it thickens a bit, take off the heat and stir in salt and vanilla if using.
Step 4 – Pour and store in a glass jar. The caramel with thicken more as it cools. Enjoy on ice cream, desserts, cookies and more!
The best thing about this recipe is that you can use any honey varietal. Depending on which varietal you use, it will yield a different color and best of all, give you a different flavor profile! Enjoy!

Salted Honey Caramel Sauce
- Total Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients
- ½ Cup (168 g) Local Hive™ Honey’s Northwest Blend or any varietal
- 4 Tbsp (56 g) Unsalted Butter
- 1 Cup (227 g) Heavy Cream
- ¾ to 1 teaspoon Salt (or to taste)
- 1 Tsp Vanilla Paste or Extract, optional
Instructions
- Add honey and butter to a saucepan and over medium heat, bring to a rapid boil. Stir occasionally.
- Add heavy cream and cook for about 8 minutes on medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- Once it thickens slightly, take off the heat and stir in the salt and vanilla if using.
- Pour into a glass jar. The caramel with thicken more as it cools. Enjoy on ice cream, desserts, cookies and more!
Notes
- Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. The caramel will solidify in the fridge. You can heat in a saucepan (prefered method) or in the microwave in 15 second bursts to your desired consistency. Be careful not to overheat in the microwave as it can cause separation.
